One of the things my clients often say is they love how naturally my newborns are posed.
I will be the first to say that there are so many different styles of photography, even including differences within each genre (like newborn photography) and neither is right or wrong, but I think it’s important to note what style you as a client are drawn to and find a photographer that does that, and does it well. Some of my best photographer friends do posed newborns and do it beautifully, but for my eye and heart; I land on baby led posing.
Baby led posing is the simplicity of creating a comfortable environment for your newborn and allowing them to snuggle into various blankets, wraps, and positions that are natural to THEM and representations of ways a newborn naturally sleeps. If your baby really favors turning a certain way, we turn that certain way. WHY? Because I want you and your baby to feel peaceful during your session and I also want you to be able to look back at your album or the art on your walls and say, “remember when she always had to sleep with her hand like that….” Because your baby is not a generic newborn. That’s YOUR baby, with preferences & a personality they want to show us right from the start and I adore showing you that through your portraits.
This is the organic portraiture that I am drawn to for your portraits. This means simple, neutral colors & textures, a warm & calm environment, and taking it step by step to keep your baby happy & comfortable during their session. This means various angles of simple & pure carefully curated wraps and blankets and focusing on the connection to your baby and with your baby. For these reasons, everything for your newborn session is provided by the studio and the only thing you need to worry about bringing is your baby & family.
