nashville family photographer . what four on the beach looks like

This year for our son’s four year old portraits, I decided we’d go to Chicago to take them on the beach.  Well, sort of. The real story is, it’s a convenient coincidence that I was traveling to Chicago for a week to visit my husband’s parents and photograph some clients just a couple weeks before he turns four.  I’ll take it.

My in laws live right on the beach, so he had a ball walking out the door of their high rise condo, crossing Lake Shore Drive in the tunnel, and popping out at Lake Michigan. (or as he would tell you… “the ocean!”) One of my favorite parts about Chicago is we can walk 3 blocks (if that?) to the Magnificent Mile and directly across the street to this beach.

The weather was less than Summer like, even for Chicago (we grew up in Michigan) and despite a few chilly and raining days (a much welcome change from Nashville Summer, however!) I still decided to bring my camera to the beach one chilly, drizzling morning.

And I’m so happy I did.

Enjoy some of my favorite photographs of my sweet boy.
